Property Renovation, West Cheshire

Project Type: residential
Location: West Cheshire
Client: Private
Status: Completed
Project Services: Building Regulation Approval, Construction Drawings, Planning Permission, Interior Design

We were recently instructed to manage a property renovation in West Cheshire, starting with securing planning permission for the project. The client required the creation of a large extension and addition of a series of private courtyards to an existing five-bedroom house.

The property is a a post-WWII farm house with an external bunker which is situated in a green belt area. Its position on the corner of its road also meant that access to the site needed particular consideration. As such, significant liaison with Local Authorities, Environmental and Highways Agencies was required for this property renovation project.

Our design aimed to maximise space and allow greater functionality, as well as increase light into the building. The solution we created included a new sunroom, gym, the creation of an open plan kitchen/ diner, and new sitting room and another reception room.

In order to create new, useable space we demolished the bunker and replaced it with a spacious garage, connected to the house via the light and airy sunroom.

Despite this property renovation being a particularly challenging brief, our team’s efficient liaison and previous experience working on green belt sites meant that planning permission was granted in just eight weeks. We have now completed the technical drawings for the project and the construction should finish in time for Christmas.
